The Brazilian Army inaugurated a photovoltaic energy plant at the beginning of last week at the 5th PEF (Special Border Platoon), in the municipality of Auaris (RO).

The plant will provide electricity to the site, which previously depended on the air transport of diesel oil to supply its generators.

The military's expectation is that the new feature will make energy generation cheaper and more stable for the corporation.

The project was prepared by the 6th BEC (Construction Engineering Battalion), with coupling to alternating current. It is a modularized energy storage system, with 198 kW of installed power and a storage capacity of 248.4 kWh.

The inauguration was held on February 2nd during a ceremony. The event was attended by the Military Commander of the Amazon, Army General Estevam Cals Theophilo Gaspar de Oliveira, the Commander of the 1st Jungle Infantry Brigade, Brigade General Adriano Fructuoso da Costa, the Commander of the 2nd Engineering Group, Brigade General Marcelo Pereira Lima de Carvalho and Lieutenant Colonel Carlos Evando dos Santos, Commander of the 6th BEC.
