The leadership of the state of Minas Gerais in the solar sector is the result of public policies and tax incentives that the state government of Minas Gerais has created to encourage the market for solar energy in the state.
This is the assessment of Kathleen Garcia, assistant secretary who participated in the event CBGD (Brazilian Congress of Distributed Generation) and ExpoGD (Brazilian Distributed Generation Fair) this Wednesday morning (9), representing governor Romeu Zema, elected by the state of Minas Gerais.
“We did a whole cluster analysis and saw what we can do to improve this area. We have already attracted R$ 270 billion in investment from 2019, of which R$ 51 billion is just from photovoltaic energy”, comments the deputy secretary.

The opening of the event was attended by state deputy Gil Pereira (PSD), who highlighted the ICMS exemption that the state of Minas Gerais has. Something also addressed by Kathleen that points out to be the goal of a “protagonist Minas Gerais” in renewables.
“At the beginning of September, we managed to reach first place in photovoltaic generation, both distributed and centralized, this is a reflection of the tax benefit, which we were also able to extend the exemption from this ICMS period until 2032”, adds Garcia.
Adriano Henrique Fontoura, municipal secretary of economic development in the city of Belo Horizonte (MG), representing mayor Fuad Noman, highlighted that the Solar energy contributes massively to job creation, revenue and income for the Minas Gerais territory.
Expo GD is an event held by the FRG Group and promoted by ABGD (Brazilian Association of Distributed Generation), with the support of the State Government and the main associations and entities linked to the distributed generation sector of energy with renewable sources in Brazil and abroad . The event takes place until November 10th at Expominas, Belo Horizonte (MG).
The event brings together more than 60 players in the photovoltaic market, including manufacturers, distributors and developers of technological solutions for professionals in the solar sector.
Among the companies that will be present is PHB Solar, which displays its ground monopole solution and its inverter intended for large power plants.
SSM do Brasil also participates in the event. With two stands, the manufacturer displays its structures for ground systems and its carport solution, integrating electric mobility with solar energy.
The manufacturer of electronic items Clamper presents professionals with its portfolio of products designed to protect against electrical surges.
