Aiming for savings and sustainability, a pork rind factory, located in the municipality of Baixo Guandu, 186 km from Vitória (ES), installed a 143.64 kWp solar energy system.

Operating since May 2020, the plant has 399 360 W photovoltaic modules from Canadian, has two inverters (one of 50 kW and the other of 60 kW) and generates an average of 15,156 kWh.

According to SEED Engenharia e Soluções Sustentáveis, an accredited company of Renew responsible for installing the plant, the energy bill, which was approximately R$ 12 thousand, increased to an average of R$ 1.2 thousand per month, that is, a reduction of 90%.

“Those who don’t install it are wasting time,” said Tiago Sperandio, director of the factory, who also has a photovoltaic system at his home.

The financing, made possible by Banco do Nordeste (BNB), was carried out in 48 months and “has gone very quickly. Payback is expected in three and a half years”, he commented.

According to Sperandio, the project was one of the pioneers in the city. “We knew little about solar energy and there was a lot of fear regarding after-sales, the possible need for inverter maintenance and how this could compromise our production”, he reported.

“SEED is accredited in the Diamond category by Renovigi, a company from Santa Catarina that is the leader in the manufacture of photovoltaic systems in Brazil. This gave Tiago the confidence he lacked in decision-making”, highlighted Rafael Sant'Ana, CEO of SEED Engenharia.

Gustavo Martins, chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO of Renovigi, highlighted the potential that successful cases, such as Embutidos Sperandio, have to popularize access to solar in the country.

“It is essential that we work with the purpose of clarifying the significant benefits of using photovoltaic energy, not only in terms of savings – given the significant compensation in production costs – but also in its sustainable role due to having a renewable raw material, sunlight, originated by nature”, he emphasized.
