The Infrastructure Services Commission (CI) of the Federal Senate approved, this Tuesday (5), the appointment of Sandoval Feitosa for the position of general director of ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency).

A nomination was made by the presidency and published in the DOU (Official Gazette of the Union) last Monday (4). The vacancy is due to the end of André Pepitone's term in August this year.

During the hearing, Feitosa commented that experiencing the maturation of the electricity market and the growth of all the institutions that make it up was a privilege, and emphasized dialogue and the 18 years of experience at the Agency as the foundations of his work.

“I will maintain my commitment to serving our country well, acting in a coordinated manner and in constant dialogue with society,” he declared.

Director of ANEEL since 2018, Feitosa was superintendent of Transmission Services Regulation (SRT) and Superintendent of Electricity Services Inspection (SFE). He was also director of ABAR (Brazilian Association of Regulatory Agencies), between 2018 and 2020.

In his Saturday speech, the new general director praised the institution's technical staff and highlighted the privilege of having led relevant processes amid recent challenges in the Brazilian electricity sector.

“We have a valuable team of employees who are ready to continue serving the country so that electricity reaches each Brazilian with adequate quality and prices”, concluded Feitosa.

With 19 votes in favor and one abstention, the CI's nomination will be submitted to the Senate Plenary.
