A G.D. (distributed generation) of energy solar exceeded the 5 GW of installed power in Brazil in 2022, according to data from ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency). The milestone was reached in the early afternoon of this Wednesday (26).

Even though there are still just over two months left until the end of 2022, this is already the best result recorded by own solar energy generation in just a single year, surpassing the 4.44 GW that were recorded throughout the 12 months of 2021.

To date, the segment has already added little more than 520 thousand systems this year, benefiting almost 678 thousand UCs (consumer units).

According to ANEEL, more than half the power installed between January and October is the result of residential connections (2.8 GW).

Next, commercial establishments (1.1 GW), rural properties (721 MW) and the industrial sector (238 MW) appear.

The states of São Paulo, Minas Gerais and Rio Grande do Sul were the ones who led the advancement of solar DG in the year, with 707 MW, 620 MW and 528 MW, respectively.

Among the municipalities, the highlight is Florianópolis (SC), with 250 MW installed – almost five times more power than Brasília (DF), which occupies second place overall, with 52.2 MW.

One of the issues that help explain the expansion of GD in less than 10 months is the creation of Law No. 14,300, which foresees changing the compensation criteria for consumers who request connection to the network from 2023 onwards.

In total, adding up all annual records, own solar energy generation accumulates just over 14 GW of installed power. The data has been officially recorded by ANEEL since December 2008.
