GE bets on the Brazilian market and launches line of inverters

Brazil was chosen to be one of the first countries to launch the GE brand of string inverters

Brazil was the second country to receive the launch of GE Inversores' new portfolio of string inverters. According to the brand, as a result of a global licensing agreement between GoodWe and GE, the equipment will be available on the Brazilian photovoltaic market at the beginning of 2021.

In total, there are 13 pieces of equipment divided into three lines: the GEP 3.6-5 kW, the GEP 7-9 kW and the GEP 12-60 kW. The first and second lines comprise single-phase equipment, while the second has three-phase inverters.

“Brazil was chosen to be one of the first countries to launch the GE brand of string inverters due to its expansion in the solar industry and interest in more advanced and sophisticated technologies. The inverters developed for the Brazilian market combine technological innovation, safety and efficiency with advanced technological components integrated into an impeccable design. GE Inversores will shape the present to provide the future of smart energy”, highlighted Sérgio Carvalho, Country Manager at GoodWe.

According to GE Inversores, the GEP 3.6-5kW line, which features compact inverters with 2 MPPTs, is capable of oversizing of up to 50% and maximum efficiency of 98.3%. Furthermore, it has a maximum input current per string of up to 13 A, being compatible with different types of solar panels, including bifacial ones.

The GEP 7-9kW line has 3 MPPTs, with a starting voltage of 80 V. The inverters were designed to take advantage of solar energy, from sunrise to sunset, regardless of irradiation and weather conditions.

Also according to the brand, the GEP 12-60kW line is aimed at the C&I (Commerce and Industry) segment, with up to 6 MPPTs. The inverters in this range feature built-in IV curve diagnostics, film capacitor and fuseless design, optional anti-PID function, DC side Type II surge protection (optional Type I) and AC terminal temperature detection.

The event was restricted to 20 guests, including Rodrigo Sauaia, president of ABSOLAR (Brazilian Association of Photovoltaic Solar Energy), Carlos Evangelista, president of ABGD (Brazilian Association of Distributed Generation) and the executive director of Canal Solar, Bruno Kikumoto . Furthermore, the launch was broadcast live on the internet.

Distributors

The inverters will be distributed in the Brazilian market by Sices and Fotus Energia. “Sices once again confirms its DNA of innovation and quality, always concerned with the quality of the equipment technology it brings to Brazil and offers to its customers. We are investing heavily in this partnership, which further expands our range of high-quality products. GE comes with another line to complement our portfolio, with innovative solutions, with technology that will bring even more efficiency and increasingly better solutions for our customers”, highlighted Lucas Troia, director of New Business at Sices.

“We have had a partnership with GoodWe for a long time and now we are going to introduce GE equipment in a market that Fotus has not yet reached, which is a more premium niche, where there is more added value in the inverter”, commented José João director- executive at Fotus Energia.
