The state of Goiás created, this Thursday (9), a working group that aims to develop public policies to promote renewable energy. The measure was taken after a meeting held on Wednesday afternoon (9) between governor Ronaldo Caiado, vice-governor Lincoln Tejota and representatives of industry associations.
The meeting was called after the Central-West board of INEL (National Institute for Clean and Sustainable Energy) proposed the topic to the government team. With the initiative, the state becomes the first in the country to have a working group to promote renewable energy.
According to Carlos Toledo, regional director of INEL Centro-Oeste, the group will be headed by the vice-governor and the general secretary of the Governorship, Adriano da Rocha Lima, and by the secretary of the Environment, Andrea Vulcanis. Furthermore, the president of the INEL, Heber Galarce, and the president of ABGD (Brazilian Association of Distributed Generation), Carlos Evangelista, will form the working group.
“We have great potential to generate energy from alternative and renewable sources in our state. We had a productive meeting and created a working group that will allow us to move forward on this topic, in order to minimize dependence on hydroelectric energy in Goiás”, stated the vice-governor.
“The group’s objective is to contribute to the advancement of renewable energy in the state through the promotion of professional qualifications, an awareness campaign for the population about renewable energy and other educational activities”, commented Toledo.
“Alternatives will be proposed to promote the renewable sector. To achieve this, the group must meet regularly to transform ideas into realities”, added Tarcísio Augusto Dario, deputy director of INEL Centro-Oeste.
