Tech giants like Tesla, Google and Amazon are one of several companies that are looking to utilize 100% for clean, sustainable energy and decarbonize the world economy.
Now, another multinational has joined this list, this time from the brewery sector.
Heineken announced that, starting this month, Sol beer, one of the group's premium brands, will be produced with photovoltaic solar energy at factories in Ponta Grossa (PR) and Jacareí (SP).
The initiative is part of the sustainability strategy called “Drop the C”, which aims to reduce CO² emissions and achieve renewable energy consumption in all of the company's breweries by 2023 in Brazil.
According to Heineken, the Sol brand will now use the signature “Produced with Solar Energy” on its packaging, point-of-sale materials and other communication pieces.
This signature is also used in English as “Brewed by the Sun”. This is because the group's brewery located in the city of Zoeterwoude, in the Netherlands – responsible for supplying countries such as England, Australia, South Africa, Germany, Finland and Spain – also produces drinks using solar energy.
