Last week, Inel (National Institute of Clean and Sustainable Energy) started a series of lives for its YouTube channel of interviews with pre-candidates for the presidency of the 2022 elections.

Focusing on public policies aimed at renewable energy, the institute seeks to understand and analyze the positioning and proposals of pre-candidates. A first live The former Minister of Health, Luiz Henrique Mandetta, was a guest.

The interview included the participation of professor and engineer José Wanderley Marangon Lima, a specialist in generation, transmission, distribution and commercialization of electrical energy, and the president of Inel, Heber Galarce, as mediator and presenter of the interview.

The former minister explained about clean energy, the country's energy demands and the challenges facing the energy issue. Mandetta also pointed out the country's great power when saying that renewable energy could be the Brazilian case in the 21st century.

Also during the interview, the former minister commented on economic and environmental aspects regarding the use of non-renewable sources and the consequences of their use, such as climate change.

“In this scenario where we have two environmental issues that are directly linked to energy production and in dialogue with a world that is undergoing energy transformation”, commented Mandetta.

Mandetta also weighed in on the water crisis. According to him, the situation has been faced since the government of Fernando Henrique Cardoso and, over the last few years, due to deforestation, the hydroelectric basins have shown a decrease in water volume and have not been able to recover. “The water crisis is old news,” he highlighted.
