Investments in solar for companies and industries total R$ 32 billion in Brazil

You investments in own generation of solar energy in the companies and industries exceed the R mark$ 32 billion accumulated in Brazil, with more than 226 thousand photovoltaic systems installed on rooftops and small plots of land to supply clean electricity to factories, commercial and service companies in the country.

O mapping is from Photovoltaic Bonö, an engineering company and solar energy generation projects for corporate markets, based on official data from ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency). 

According to the survey, the systems of solar energy in own energy generation for companies and industries total more than 6.3 GW of installed power, with projects in operation in all regions of Brazil. 

Altogether, the photovoltaic technology it is present in around five thousand Brazilian municipalities with at least one solar energy system installed in the corporate environment.

For Marcelo Abuhamad, CEO of the Bonö Group, the growth of own generation solar energy strengthens sustainability and protagonism business in call agenda ESG. “It also increases the competitiveness of Brazilian productive sectors, with more sustainable and profitable operations”, he commented.

According to the executive, even with the new rules for consumers with solar energy coming into force in April, the installation of photovoltaic systems remains attractive and advantageous for companies that intend to invest in technology. 

Abuhamad further emphasizes that the biggest challenge that senior management faces at the moment is the state of the global economy, which means that practically three quarters of global businesspeople believe that there will be an economic slowdown in the coming years. 

However, Brazil is on the list of optimistic countries: “the majority of businesspeople I know are already taking actions to mitigate the difficulties and economic volatility of 2023, mainly with climate initiatives that aim to reduce carbon emissions, adopting the strategy of investing in renewable energy sources, mainly solar, which provides a payback better than most common financial investments”, he commented.
