More and more banking institutions are closing agreements and betting on solar energy. BRF, for example, signed an agreement with Bank of Brazil to finance investments in the installation of solar panels on farms.

Already the Bradesco announced a partnership with Enel X for the development and construction of nine photovoltaic DG (distributed generation) plants in the states of Rio de Janeiro, Ceará and Goiás. In total, the plants will be responsible for supplying more than 300 agencies.

O Itaú Unibanco was not left out either. The company announced, this Monday (3), an investment agreement with AES Operações, a subsidiary of AES Brasil, for renewable energy generation projects.

The financial institution will subscribe to new preferred shares to be issued in the context of a capital increase carried out by Guaimbê Holding, in which the bank will contribute R$ 360 million. The operation was approved by Cade (Administrative Council for Economic Defense) on December 16, 2021.

In the midst of this scenario, Itaú will increase its participation as a shareholder in Guaimbê, now holding a stake of 23.72% of its share capital. “This is an opportunity to direct the resources contributed to expand the portfolio of renewable projects”, highlighted the company in a note.

More about the partnership

According to the bank, the operation also foresees the contribution, in Guaimbê Holding, by AES Operações, of its participation in Ventus Holding de Energia Eólica, a company that makes up the Ventus Wind Complex, located in Rio Grande do Norte.

Furthermore, the project includes participation in the companies AGV Solar IV Geradora de Energia SA, AGV Solar V Geradora de Energia SA and AGV Solar VI Geradora de Energia SA, which comprise the second phase of the Ouroeste Solar Complex, located in the city of Ouroeste (SP ).
