Jinko Solar and JA Solar announced that they will invest RMB 315 million (US$ 48.7 million) of monetary capital in Xinte Energy, located in Inner Mongolia, for priority access to polysilicon.

The contribution will be used to build a production line for the material with an annual capacity of 100 thousand tons – scheduled to start this quarter and which should take 18 months to complete. As a result, both will have a stake of 9% in the company.

“Xinte is a leader in polysilicon technology and industrialized operations. We are delighted to extend this close partnership with them and remain fully confident about the accelerated growth of the photovoltaic industry in the coming years,” said Kangping Chen, CEO of Jinko Solar.

According to the executive, the company believes that this investment is not only a solid growth strategy, but will help stabilize the supply of silicon material and reduce supply chain volatility.

“By cooperating with specialized upstream manufacturers, we will continue to strengthen the advantages of our integrated capability and solidify the foundation for mass production of high-efficiency modules year after year,” he highlighted.

For Fernando Castro, country manager at JA Solar Brasil, due to the enormous growth in global demand for photovoltaic panels, as well as all solutions related to renewables, this agreement with Xinte is strategic.

“It is essential for JA to expand the range of polysilicon suppliers, in order to guarantee the desired and sustainable growth of the company (target production capacity of 60 GW/year by the end of 2025) and constant and stable supply to our customers”, he concluded .
