An auction for electricity transmission works is scheduled for June 2022. According to the MME (Ministry of Mines and Energy), there will be 4,810 km of transmission lines, 6,030 MVA of power to be installed and around R$ 8 billion in total investments.

In total, electricity expansion works are planned in 10 Brazilian states. Most of the volume will be destined for the northern region of Minas Gerais. 3,543 km of transmission lines are planned there, in addition to 3,750 MVA in power to be installed in substations. In total, R$ 6 billion will be allocated to these projects alone.

Electricity transmission works that have concession contracts in the process of expiring penalties and that are located in the states of Amazonas, Pará, Rondônia, Mato Grosso do Sul and Santa Catarina will also be part of the auction.

For these projects, 942 km of transmission lines are planned, with a capacity of 1,030 MVA to be installed in substations and approximately R$ 1.2 billion in investments.

Another highlight of the auction is the work to increase energy security in the state of Amapá, which should gain 250 km of transmission lines and R$ 200 million in investments. Expansions and reinforcements in electricity supply are also planned in the states of São Paulo, Pará, Sergipe and Acre.

The MME and EPE (Energy Research Company) have already sent technical reports on the projects that will make up the auction to ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency).
