Auction for Isolated Systems is scheduled for March 2021, says MME

The MME (Ministry of Mines and Energy) published in the DOU (Official Gazette of the Union) this Thursday (17) the Ordinance No. 341 which establishes the guidelines for holding the “Auction for Supply to Isolated Systems”, scheduled for March 2021.

The event aims to promote the contracting of supply solutions to serve 22 locations not connected to the SIN (National Interconnected System), located in the states of Acre (3), Amazonas (5), Pará (10), Rondônia (2) and Roraima (2).

According to the MME, for locations expected to be interconnected to the SIN, contractual deadlines were defined to guarantee supply until interconnection is effective. For locations with no provision for interconnection, the contractual deadlines are different depending on the primary sources used.

For supply solutions whose primary sources are natural gas or renewables, including or not storage technologies, the contracting period will be 15 years. In other cases, the contractual term will be five years.

In order to support those interested in participating in the event, EPE (Energy Research Company) will publish instructions for registering supply solutions, as well as the requirements for issuing technical authorization.

In addition, detailed information will be disclosed about each location, obtained from the annual service planning cycles for isolated systems.

Interested entrepreneurs must register their supply solutions with EPE by 12pm on December 4, 2020. For the purposes of registration and technical qualification, the presentation of environmental licenses will be waived, which must be presented by those who are successful. winners within a period to be defined in the notice.

The expectation is that the auction will be operated by the CCEE (Electric Energy Trading Chamber) online.
