O Government of Mato Grosso do Sul (MS) authorized the start of technical studies for implementation, maintenance and operation of plants solar energy aiming to supply part of the state public bodies.

Authorization was granted to the group of companies formed by Garin Infraestrutura Assessoria e Participações, Moysés & Pires Sociedade de Advogados and INEL (National Clean Energy Institute). O working group will have 90 days to complete the studies.

“It’s a strategic vision. We understand that prioritizing the generation of clean, renewable energy is contributing to the environmental issue, to the sustainability of Mato Grosso do Sul for the sustainability of Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil and the world”, said governor Reinaldo Azambuja (PSDB).

According to the State, preliminary studies indicate that, in Mato Grosso do Sul, the solar incidence rate reaches 5,200 wh/m² per day, almost double the irradiation in Germany and other European countries.

Despite all its potential, the source has not been explored by the state in the way it could. Currently, Mato Grosso do Sul is only the 13th Brazilian state with the highest volume of installed solar power in public authorities in the DG (distributed generation) segment.

This reason perhaps helps to explain the Government's current interest in installing photovoltaic solar energy systems.

In 2019 alone, electricity consumption by entities linked to the Public Administration of Mato Grosso do Sul exceeded 170 million KWh.

This is a volume that could have come from energy production through solar energy and guaranteed greater savings for the Administration and sustainability for the region.
