“It will be a revolution in modern lithium batteries for vehicles.” According to Adalberto Maluf, sustainability director at BYD Brasil, this is the expectation with the launch of the Blade battery, a product developed by BYD that redefines safety standards for electric cars around the world.
The official announcement took place during an online event in China, which was attended by Wang Chuanfu, global president of BYD.
Among the advantages of the new equipment are the slow release of heat and low heat generation, the ability to not release oxygen during breakdowns and not to catch fire.
“The new chemistry and design of Blade lithium batteries create the safest battery on the global market. It is the answer to a long research process to create a fire- and explosion-proof battery,” said Maluf.
Due to the Blade battery structure, space utilization is optimized by more than 50% compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate block batteries, according to the company.
The Han EV, BYD's flagship sedan model scheduled to be launched in June this year, will come equipped with the Blade battery. According to He Long, vice president of BYD, other vehicle brands are also discussing partnerships based on battery technology.
