Minas Gerais has just installed 1 GW of solar energy. So proud to be a miner! And beyond being proud to be from Minas Gerais, I know that we are on the path to being able to celebrate this milestone in all Brazilian states. Solar energy doesn't stop.
Reaching this milestone means looking at the more than 84 thousand micro and minigeneration installations, 844 municipalities with generation from this energy source, at the R$4.5 Billion that were invested to reach this number, in addition to all the generation of direct and indirect.
Our sector continues to grow despite the soaring dollar, international freight costs and rising prices at the base of the chain (steel, electronic components, glass, silicon, etc.). Fun fact: Minas Gerais has 853 municipalities.
This is a number that is less than ten years old, since the regulation came with Resolution 482 (Normative Resolution No. 482/2012). But it is clear that it was in the last five years that there was an increase in installations.
Considering the number of companies entering the sector, whether in distribution, integration or maintenance, this number should double at increasingly shorter intervals.
Just look at the graph below, when we had 2.48GW of total installed capacity in Brazil in 2019 and, based on the February 2021 number, we are at 8.5GW.
The most impressive thing is that we are only scratching the surface, if we look at other countries with much more installation limitations than ours and with much higher installed capacities.
I celebrate with joy each new installation, each new city that has its first plant installed and I will be present in all states to celebrate the 1 GW milestone together.
With the long-awaited approval of PL 5829/19 (Bill no. 5829/19), which will provide the stability and legal security that we so desire, it is not hard to dream that we can reach and surpass the generation numbers of China, the greatest power in this market today.
