O President of the Chamber of Deputies, Arthur Lira (PP-AL), in a speech to TV Câmara, he stated, this Wednesday (18), that expects sensitivity from ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency) and distributors so that they can reduce energy tariffs.

Lira met with the new Minister of Mines and Energy, Adolfo Sachsida, and parliamentarians for discuss the consecutive increases in the electricity bill and the decree which calls for the suspension of the increase of more than two digits in the tariff value of consumers served by Enel Distribuição, in Ceará.

At the beginning of the month, the Plenary approved the urgent vote on the project by deputy Domingos Neto (PSD-CE). The proposal, although it is about increasing tariffs for residents of Ceará, will be discussed in the Plenary to also apply to all increases granted in the country.

“We had a very productive meeting, where Minister Sachsida left here with the task of meeting with the distributors and ANEEL to seek a balanced solution. Despite being contractual, this increase can be minimized”, said Lira.

Double-digit increase

On April 19th, the ANEEL approved Enel Distribuição's 2022 annual tariff adjustment for just over 3.8 million consumer units in Ceará. The measure increased the electricity bill in the state by more than 24%.

At the time, the Agency justified that the increase was due to the “withdrawal of financial components established in the last tariff process, in addition to costs with sectoral charges and expenses related to energy distribution and purchase activities”.
