O MME (Ministry of Mines and Energy) changed the schedule of three energy auctions, which were scheduled to take place in 2022.
The first of them is the Auction A-6, which will no longer be carried out due to the lack of declaration of the need to purchase electricity from energy distributors.
“This lack of demand is largely due to ongoing measures sponsored by the MME to modernize the sector. Among them are the proposal to open the energy market, the expansion of distributed generation and the discounting of Eletrobras plants”, highlights the Ministry.
The second event that will no longer be held this year is Auction for Supply to Isolated Systems, under the justification that the energy supply deficits raised by EPE (Energy Research Company) and published in the “Planning for Service to Isolated Systems, Horizon 2022/2026 – 2021 Cycle”, were not sufficient to indicate an auction to contract new supply solutions for 2022.
“Thus, in these systems, the MME will prioritize actions that promote, a priori, the reduction of losses, making it possible to meet, by compensation, the amount of energy arising from the small expected deficits”, highlights the Ministry.
Already the Auction for Hiring Capacity Reserve, in the form of power, will also not be carried out in 2022, because the MME informed that it continues to prepare, together with the EPE and the ONS (National Electric System Operator), studies to facilitate a competition that stimulates competition between primary sources of energy generation and allows the contracting of storage solutions.
“Among the objectives of the studies, we highlight the improvement of the quantification of the SIN (National Interconnected System) power requirement to be met by the auction and the improvement of the quantification of the power with which each source can contribute to the security of the SIN. It should be noted that the requirements document will be published in due course for public consultation”, points out the MME.
