The Minister of MME (Mines and Energy), Alexandre Silveira, presented on Friday (05), in Fortaleza (CE), the Electricity Transmission Grant Plan, with planned investments totaling R$ 56 billion in network infrastructure for the flow of renewable energy in the Northeast region.

The announcement was made during a meeting with the governors of the Northeast Consortium. In all, there will be three large auctions with 24 lots which must be carried out by 2024

According to the minister, the first transmission auction will be held on June 30, with an estimated R$ 16 billion in investments, then a further R$ 20 billion in the second half of the year, and another R$ 20 billion in 2024.

The investment plan will enable the installation of 30 GW of renewable generation potential and unlock more than R$ 120 billion in private investment in the area of renewable energy generation.

“We are talking about the potential for industrialization of the region with clean and cheap energy, which can also be consumed right here, in the Northeast region, bringing industrialization, producing green hydrogen. All this, with a focus on social, economic and environmental development, generating more jobs and income for the people of the Northeast”, highlighted the Minister of Mines and Energy.

During the meeting, the MME Secretary of Energy Transition and Planning, Thiago Barral, said that in the second semester he will contract a mega transmission project that will run from Maranhão to Goiás.

“It will be the execution of the first direct current bipole in the Northeast region, which will connect the Graça Aranha Substation, in Maranhão, and the Silvânia Substation, in Goiás, transferring up to 5 GW of energy through an 800 kilovolt transmission line. A great capacity to transport energy, with a different technology, which will be able to support this large volume of renewable energy projects that we have in the country”, highlighted Barral.

In addition to the Northeast region, the works indicated in this grant plan will be carried out in Espírito Santo, Goiás, Minas Gerais, Mato Grosso, Pará, Paraná, Rio de Janeiro, Rondônia, Rio Grande Do Sul, São Paulo and Tocantins.
