MME defends social compensation in concession renewals

The MME (Ministry of Mines and Energy) together with the concessionaires' teams met last Tuesday (2) at the department's headquarters, in Brasília (DF), to discuss the social counterparts in renewing energy distributors' concessions electrical.

According to the Minister of Mines and Energy, Alexandre Silveira, it is the Ministry's priority to work for the sustainability of the sector, with a focus on the population and stated that social compensations are fundamental so that the renovations can bring benefits to everyone. 

Alexandre commented that “we cannot give up these social compensations” and stated that “they are important in the vision of this ministry and the president of the republic”.

“After all, they will serve energy efficiency and, mainly, the population with increased investments by distributors in low and medium voltage lines to improve the quality of services in the distribution segment for the population”, added Silveira.

The meeting held aimed to discuss the terms of renewal of concessions.

“The agenda is also part of an important activity by the MME of constant dialogue with the sector, in order to define solutions for concession contracts, focusing on the balance between energy security and reasonable tariffs,” stated the Ministry.
