The MME (Ministry of Mines and Energy) and Equatorial Pará signed the first term of commitment for the implementation of the More Light for the Amazon Program.

The initiative aims to bring electricity to Pará residents in remote regions of the Legal Amazon in the state that does not yet have access to this public service.

According to the MME, the forecast is that more than 10 thousand families, that is, around 42 thousand people, will be covered in the period from 2020 to 2022.

The service will be provided through generation systems that use renewable energy, especially photovoltaic solar, contributing to the preservation of the Amazon Forest and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, in addition to encouraging the use of renewable sources of energy generation. electricity.

Furthermore, access to electricity enables the social and economic development of communities located in the Legal Amazon, as it encourages activities aimed at increasing family income and the sustainable use of the region's natural resources, providing an improvement in the quality of life of this population.

The Renascer Extractive Reserve will be the first location covered by the program. The forecast is that by the end of this year, 205 families will be served, approximately 820 people.
