More sixty-two battery-based photovoltaic systems will be installed in health posts in Yanomami land in the state of Amazon it's from Roraima, according to the MME (Ministry of Mines and Energy).

The two letters, which authorized the inclusion of these units in the More Light for the Amazon Program, were sent to the board of distribution companies in both states, on Friday (24).

According to the Minister of Mines and Energy, Alexandre Silveira, the measure responds to a request from SESAI (Indigenous Health Secretariat) of the Ministry of Health and follows the president's directive to serve the Yanomami population.

“We need to reinforce the energy supply at health posts in the Yanomami territory, so that professionals who work in this community are better able to serve it, offering more health, dignity, more life chances to this population”, declared the minister.

Also according to the MME, the measure is part of the actions to combat ESPIN (Public Health Emergency of National Importance), due to the lack of assistance to the Yanomami people. The signs are expected to be installed as soon as possible.

At the end of January, other equipment of this type was installed at the request of the MME, on an emergency basis, in the communities of Surucucu, Auaris, Palimiu, Serra da Estrutura, Walo Pali and Xexena, all focused on priority feeding of health units to serve indigenous people.
