Trina Solar has set a new world record of 23,03% efficiency for the Vertex P-Type PERC module.
The tests were carried out at the manufacturer's SKL (State Laboratory for Photovoltaic Science and Technology) and independently confirmed by certification laboratories outsourced by TÜV Rheinland and TÜV Nord with identical efficiency results.
“We are very pleased to announce the latest achievement of our team at the State Laboratory of Photovoltaic Science and Technology. As far as we know, it is the first commercial large p-type module with efficiency higher than 23%,” said Dr. Yifeng Chen, head of Trina Solar's high-efficiency cell and module R&D center.
“Improving the efficiency of modules is the key to helping customers save land, labor, cables, etc. Trina Solar always focuses on developing cutting-edge photovoltaic techniques and products to achieve customers' commercial success with our innovations,” Chen concluded.
According to the manufacturer, this milestone was reached after SKL researchers developed a new Multi-Busbar (MBB) technology to improve optical shading and a new hybrid soldering technology to minimize the gap between cells. As a result, the efficiency of the module was increased.
