Trina Vertex 660 W will be available in Brazil from the 2nd semester

Trina Solar announced that production of the Vertex 660W+ line will begin in Q3, but is already taking orders
Módulos de 670W estarão disponíveis no Brasil a partir do segundo semestre

Trina Solar is already taking orders for its 660W+ modules with 210mm cells. According to the manufacturer, production of the panels will begin in the third quarter of this year.

The announcement was made this Wednesday afternoon (14) during the webinar “Challenges and trends in photovoltaic energy in Brazil in 2021”, held by the manufacturer in partnership with the Solar Channel

The event was attended by Trina's vice president for Latin America and the Caribbean, Alvaro García Maltrás, Trina's Product manager, Guilherme Torrão and Greener's director, Márcio Takata.

“The modules will be available on the market at the end of this year, both monofacial and bifacial. They are more designed for large plants”, explained Maltrás.

“We have already reached the largest cell in the market and industry, considering the cost-benefit ratio. So, the acceptable and expected cost for the next five years is a 210 mm cell”, explained Guilherme Torrão, Product Manager at Trina.

According to Trina, the ultra-high power Vertex 660W+ panels have an efficiency of 21.6% and are aimed at large plants. The manufacturer also highlighted that the module has a lower LCOE, reduced BOS and shorter return time.

According to the panel datasheet, the module design provides optimized power production under inter-row shading conditions, has a lower temperature coefficient (-0.34%), and achieves up to 25% of additional power gain at the back, depending of the albedo.

Also during the webinar, Takata presented expectations for the GC (centralized generation) sector. According to Greener estimates, approximately 4.1 GW of solar projects will come into operation by 2022 in this segment.

For him, the event highlighted the relevance of technological developments in the photovoltaic sector, especially in the photovoltaic modules segment, which plays a fundamental role in structuring and implementing more efficient projects from a technical and financial point of view.

“This ornament is essential for the energy generated to be increasingly efficient, accessible and competitive. This is fundamental, especially now in the free market scenario and with the strong expansion in this market, where more than 4.8 GW of projects have already been contracted in Brazil, through bilateral contracts, PPA's of high production projects for different profiles of consumers”, he highlighted.

Investment in Brazil

During the event, Alvaro Maltrás highlighted that the manufacturer is expanding its operations in Brazil. “Our growth in Brazil last year was very strong, 60% compared to the previous year, and we intend to continue this trend this year. Trina is increasing its local team in Brazil, as shown by the growth of the solar sector in the country, greater than we could in other years, in all segments, both in GD and GC”.
