MTR Solar celebrates another positive year in Brazil. In 2023, the manufacturer of trackers and structures for large solar plants (above 500 kWp) served more than 450 projects, totaling a commercialized volume of 1.5 GWp, an increase of 45% in relation to the 2022 result.

According to the company, sales performance reflects the growing demand for renewable energy and Brazil's efforts to reduce dependence on fossil sources. For 2024, MTR Solar expects growth above 60% in equipment sales, exceeding 2 GWp installed.

The Brazilian solar energy market has seen a significant increase in recent years. Calculations by ABSOLAR (Brazilian Solar Energy Association) indicated that the Brazilian solar park should grow by around 10 GW in 2023, an increase of 42.4%, reaching 34 GW.

Of these, 23.8 GW would come from distributed generation and 12.4 GW from centralized generation. However, forecasts were exceeded, as, by October, the country already had 34.8 GW, of which 24.4 GW in DG and 10.4 GW in GC.

In 2024, the entity projects an addition of 9.3 GW, reaching a total of 45 GW installed in Brazil, which will represent an increase of 25% in relation to the 36 GW that should be reached in 2023. If the forecast is confirmed, R$38.9 billion in new investment will be attracted.

“With the resumption of economic growth and the stabilization of markets, it is expected that there will be an increase in demand for clean energy, which could boost the renewable energy sector. Solar energy has proven to be a viable and sustainable option for producing electricity, and solar plants have expanded throughout Brazil. With the stabilization of the Brazilian economy, it is likely that there will be an increase in investments in infrastructure for the production of solar energy in the country where China has been one of the main players in the solar energy market, both in terms of production and consumption”, highlights Thiago Rios, CEO of MTR Solar.

According to MTR Solar's CO-CEO, Maurício Barros, the company is optimistic about the growth of the solar energy market in the coming years. “The company hopes to continue its expansion in the coming years, seeking new business opportunities and establishing strategic partnerships to offer customers the best solar solutions available on the market. We also have a great advantage in meeting customer needs, which is the in-house manufacturing of some equipment for solar plants in our two factories in Juiz de Fora/MG”.
