O ONS (National Electric System Operator) will carry out a special operation during Carnival days with the aim of to guarantee O supply insurance energy for the entire population.
Between 5pm this Friday (17th) and 12pm Wednesday (22nd), the ONS will adopt measures similar to those adopted on days of great mobilization, such as the Christmas and New Year holidays.
On this occasion, one of the main measures is to authorize interventions in the electrical network serving capitals and other areas of large agglomeration, as long as they do not result in load shedding, or do not add the risk of load shedding in the event of contingencies, as well as interventions of urgent nature (emergency cases), or cases in which maintenance services are already underway, with no possibility of returning to operation, or interventions that guarantee even greater security in the operation of the SIN (National Interconnected System).
According to the agency, periods characterized by great popular mobilization in the country require changes in the operational routine of the electricity sector due to changes in electricity consumption habits, causing the SIN load to behave differently than what occurs on typical days, which requires specific procedures.
