PAE (Pan American Energy), an Argentine renewable energy company, revealed that it is evaluating the construction of a solar park next to Novo Horizonte wind complex, opened this Wednesday (3).
According to Alejandro Catalano, general director of PAE in Brazil, addition of the solar park will transform the complex into a large hybrid park, with a total installed capacity of 800MW. “We managed to carry out a great project and we want to expand it even further”, declared Catalano.
Novo Horizonte Wind Complex
Located in the interior of Bahia, the project is the largest among those built by PAE. With 423 MW of installed capacity, the complex occupies an area of 2.7 thousand hectares and covers six municipalities (Novo Horizonte, Boninal, Ibitiara, Piatá, Oliveira dos Brejinhos and Brotas de Macaúbas).
O The project has 94 wind turbines, a step-up substation, 80 km of line dedicated to the existing 500 kV substation, 240 km of Transmission Lines and generated more than 3,200 direct and indirect jobs.
The investment was approximately R$ 3 billion and the wind complex is expected to produce around 2 million MWh of energy per year.
According to the CEO of the PAE Group, Marcos Bulgheroni, the company “seeks to be a protagonist in the energy transition process in the region and the launch of this wind complex means a concrete step in this direction”.
The complex's transmission system included the construction of a new electrical power substation along 80 kilometers of high voltage lines, in addition to the expansion of an existing substation that connects the complex to the SIN (National Interconnected System).
