Petrobras plans to have 10% of the solar and wind GC market by 2028

State-owned company informed investors that it wants to exceed 5 GW of installed capacity or under construction in the country

In a presentation held for investors in New York, U.S, this Tuesday (30), the Petrobras revealed that intends to position itself in a more balanced way in the energy transition process that the world is going through.

A state-owned highlighted that one of your goals for the next four years is to conquer 10% of the centralized generation of solar and wind energy in Brazil, through investments of the order of US$ 5.2 billion.

The contributions are part of the Strategic Plan 2024-2028 of the company for low carbon projects. The oil company's objective, with this, is to surpass the 5 GW of installed capacity or under construction through solar and wind sources until 2028. 

Currently, Brazil has 28.9 GW of installed capacity in wind energy projects and another 11.7 GW through centralized solar sources.

O meeting this Tuesday was carried out for a group of 50 analysts and investors – especially from large investment funds from abroad – who had the opportunity to delve deeper into the main issues relating to Petrobras, especially to obtain a detail of the Brazilian state-owned company’s strategic plan. 

“We are an oil company in transition. We are gradually transforming Petrobras, investing in new energy, without giving up oil production overnight,” said Jean Paul Prates, president of Petrobras.
