A Goiás Civil Police broke out, this Monday (16), the Operation Sunset, with the aim of dismantle a criminal organization specialized in theft and sale of solar energy equipment and panels.
The action had the support of the State Police Station for Repression of Theft and Cargo Theft (DECAR), the Special Group for the Repression of Property Crimes (Gepatri) of Rio Verde and the Federal Highway Police (PRF).
According to the Civil Police, the criminals were allegedly responsible for the theft of five shipments of solar panels, two of which occurred in São Paulo, two in Minas Gerais and one in Maranhão.
Investigations showed that the criminal nucleus was in Goiás. Seven people were arrested, six in Abadia de Goiás and one in Rio Verde. Two firearms were seized and most of the stolen charges were recovered.
According to the DECAR delegate responsible for the investigation, Alexandre Bruno, some of the prisoners are linked to criminal factions, serving as “collectors” for the organization.
“One of them was a merchant in Rio Verde, and used a warehouse with a sign with false inscriptions from a well-known evangelical church to cover up the scheme of buying and selling solar panels, whose origin is illicit”, says the delegate.
The police also seized one of the trucks used to transport the stolen cargo, which amounted to a loss of more than R$ 3 million. With the arrest of the criminals, the operation will now work to identify whether there are others involved in the scheme.
One Response
Congratulations to the Police, especially for their mutual cooperation.
It still remains to identify the receivers of such cargo, traders and integrators who are involved must be identified and punished according to the law.
Either these receptors are purged or the market will become the next big victim.
