EDP Smart announced that it has entered into a partnership with Porsche to expand the experience of the German brand's customers at the company's public charging stations in Brazil.
Consumers who purchase an electric vehicle from the brand, such as the new Porsche Taycan or the hybrid versions of Cayenne or Panamera, will receive a personalized card (EV.Card), which will accredit them to use one of EDP's 50 active public charging points in the Brazil.
“With the EV.Card, the customer will be able to unlock charging stations by approaching the card to a reader next to the equipment screen, which will identify the user. The activation process will be carried out on an exclusive page for Porsche customers, responsible for enabling users to use the EDP EV application. Charge Br, which has more than 100 registered drivers in Brazil”, explained EDP in a note.
The company also stated that through the application, owners of EVs (electric vehicles) can find available charging stations, manage their charging and release the use of chargers remotely, via cell phone.
EDP plans to triple EV charging points
EDP also announced that it plans to triple the charging points available by the end of 2022. The company has already presented to ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency) projects in electric mobility that represent investments in excess of R$ 50 million.
The main one, which has Porsche as a partner, foresees the installation of 30 ultra-fast charging stations that will cover the entire state of São Paulo by next year.
According to the company, the country's main electrical corridors will be connected, connecting the capital of São Paulo to the interior and capitals of other states, forming a corridor more than 2,500 kilometers long.
“This is the first and largest project in South America to install ultra-fast chargers (150 kW and 350 kW), with an investment of R$ 32.9 million. The first ultra-fast station was opened in October 2020 in Caraguatatuba, on the north coast of São Paulo, and other new charging stations will be announced in 2021”, highlighted EDP.
EDP aims to accelerate adoption of EVs
Promote an increasingly clean and sustainable future with the adoption of EVs. This is EDP's goal, which signed, at the end of 2020, a memorandum of intent with Zebra (acronym in English for Zero Emission Vehicle Development Accelerator).
The initiative is a partnership between C40 Cities, a network that connects 96 of the world's main cities committed to promoting climate action to create a more sustainable future, and ICCT (International Council on Clean Transport), an independent, non-profit organization founded to provide governments and environmental regulators with technical research and analysis.
