Potential of the Northeast generates opportunities for the solar sector

DG (distributed generation) of photovoltaic energy has been gaining more and more strength in the Brazilian Northeast. Currently, the region has 1.01 GW of installed power, of which around 413 MW are from residential installations, which represents approximately 40% of the total

Also according to data from ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency), the five states with the highest volume of installed power are Ceará (189 MW), Bahia (181 MW), Pernambuco (159 MW), Piauí (111 MW) and Maranhão (105MW).

According to Mariana Bedin, electrical engineer and technical support analyst at Renew, solar energy in the Northeast has a significant portion that tends to be enhanced.

“I believe that currently the appeal and need to think about sustainability opens up a range of possibilities for clean energy. Every year, solar energy has been updated, with new, more efficient and reliable technologies, which adds value to the segment”, says Bedin.

The potential of the region and the significant expansion of photovoltaic sources in the country motivated Walber Teixeira Marques to invest in the solar sector. “I have always been in the commercial area. In 2016, with the segment increasingly saturated, I decided to reinvent myself. I researched some areas, participated in courses and started to observe solar energy as a technology with significant growth. I was convinced to invest”, said the CEO of Energia do Sol

The company, which is located in São Luís (MA), was created in 2017 and is now a partner of photovoltaic system manufacturer Renovigi. Marques says that when he founded Energia do Sol, few trained professionals were interested in working with solar energy, but things started to improve when he formed a partnership with engineer Klayton Rego Costa.

“Cleiton became a great partner and still manages the design and assembly area to this day. The joining of forces contributed to giving volume, visibility and promoting technology to people,” says the executive.

Today, more than three years after the creation of Energia do Sol, the company has a physical store on the banks of BR 135, which has ten solar panels on its facade won in a draw held at a meeting of Renovigi partners.

Marques highlights that investing in solar energy is an increasingly viable alternative and there is no way to change that. “People have already realized that it is a positive thing to produce energy through solar panels, the tendency is for it to become increasingly common, like the technology used in electric cars. It will be difficult to stop its growth”, he concluded.
