Photovoltaic energy expanded strongly in the state of Bahia in the last year. According to a survey carried out by Solar Channel, based on data from the ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency), the installed power of solar DG (distributed generation) in the region grew by 179.69%.
The research showed that in 2019 the state ended with 57.37 MW of installed power, in 2021 this number was 160.46 MW. Currently, Bahia is the 10th state with the highest installed power, with 393 of the 417 cities already having at least one photovoltaic system installed, representing 94.24% of all Brazilian municipalities.
The state capital, Salvador, leads the ranking of Bahian cities with the highest installed power (12.68 MW), followed by Barreiras (6.86 MW) and Camaçari (6.42 MW).
For Felipe Cerqueira Pimenta da Cunha, superintendent of Amara-e, distributor of photovoltaic generator kits, the state has enormous potential for generating energy through the Sun.
The executive also highlights that this potential of the state is linked to several geographic and socioeconomic factors. “The state has large areas available, with a high incidence of solar irradiation, made up of vast plains and low vegetation, the plains being attractive for the construction of plants, maintaining homogeneity in the installation and the low vegetation provides the absence of shading for the modules” , comments Cunha.
“As for the socio-economic issue, many of the regions suitable for photovoltaic implementation in Bahia have low economic development, making solar energy a complement to economies in needy regions”, concludes the executive.
