The City of Cuiabá (MT) expects to save R$ 6 million per year in electricity costs thanks to the installation of 5 thousand solar panels in the Sustainable Energy Generation Technology Park. The plant, with a generation capacity of 420 kWh per month, is expected to begin operating in early 2024.

With investments of approximately R$ 20 million, the project also includes the installation of 18 kilometers of high voltage power lines, directly benefiting residents of the Coxipó do Ouro District region.

According to the president of the Shopping Popular Street Vendors Association, Misael Galvão, the work is a counterpart for the shopping center, formalized through an exchange signed with the municipality.

The exchange is endorsed by Law 6,900/2023, sanctioned by Mayor Emanuel Pinheiro, which authorizes the transfer of an area of more than 11 thousand square meters to the Association.

The space currently houses the Shopping Popular parking lot and will be used to expand the commercial enterprise. From this act, the municipality of Cuiabá will receive the solar plant in return.
