First 100% electric articulated bus is built in Brazil

The model, with BYD chassis, holds 168 passengers and will have an innovative biosecurity system

Express corridors in Brazil will gain a sustainable alternative. This is because BYD completed, with Marcopolo, the bodybuilding of the first electrified 100% articulated bus in the country, with D11B chassis, with a low floor.

According to the manufacturer, the chassis, which is awaiting approval, is 22 meters long, has lithium iron phosphate batteries and a range of up to 250 km.

In total, the model holds 168 passengers and will have an innovative biosafety system, in addition to other technologies.

The bus was presented in Caxias do Sul, at the Marcopolo factory. After the approval process, series production of the vehicles will begin.

According to the company, the first 12 units have already been sold to the city of São José dos Campos, for the project of the first express corridor with electric buses.

“In addition to being non-polluting, trips aboard an electric bus are silent, with greater stability and safety for users. On the other hand, drivers also work with much more comfort when driving in an automatic car and with various technologies that help with driving”, highlighted Marcos Jardim, Director of Operations at BYD Brasil.
