Project encourages Brazilian startups to invest in renewables

Galp aims for companies to create an entrepreneurial ecosystem and invest in technological innovation

A Upcoming Energies, an open innovation platform from Galp energy company, developed a project with the aim of seeking solutions for main challenges that renewables face in Brazil.

At the moment, Galp is in the spotlight in relation to national oil and gas production. O development of solar and wind energy is among its priorities for the future.

“Galp plans to invest US$ 5 billion in Brazil over the next 15 years. Approximately half of this investment will be made in clean energy, installing 5.4 GW in the country by 2030”, he emphasizes.

The company also points out that the Upcoming Energies platform was created with the aim of locating startups with highlights in innovation.

According to the company, the creation of an entrepreneurial ecosystem and a focus on innovation are among its objectives, integrating the decarbonization strategy and achieving net zero by 2050.

Get to know Green-X

The initiative, which was named Green-X, was developed in order to learn about ideas and projects that aim to changing the panorama of renewable energies in Brazil.

In practice, a open call, exclusively intended for Brazilian students, researchers and startups who are working in green innovation.

The Growth trail

The Growth track is aimed at mature startups, with renewable solutions that can solve challenges proposed by Galp. For example: the production of energy without or with low carbon emissions; software that increases efficiency, optimization and flexibility through digitalization; and low-carbon energy value chains.

The Open Call trail

The Open Call trail is a portal for attracting mature startups that intend to establish a partnership with Galp on innovative solutions in solar, wind and energy storage.

The Research Core track

The Research Core track will welcome applications from researchers, scientists, teachers and students with research carried out on topics such as fuels, hydrogen carriers or energy storage.

The best projects in the Growth and Open Call tracks will have access to Galp material and the Web Summit Rio. The Research Core track offers prizes of up to R$ 60 thousand to the Top 3. Registration will remain available until February 28th. ShovelTo register, access the Green-X website.
