High temperatures, above average for summer, growing load and low inflow may result in the need to resort to the dispatch of thermoelectric resources to complement the load ramp at specific times. This is the assessment of the ONS (National System Operator).

“This scenario is monitored very closely, mainly because it can lead to higher demands to meet the peak load. In these cases, it may be necessary to resort to the dispatch of thermoelectric resources to complement the loading ramp at specific times”, explains Luiz Carlos Ciocchi, general director of the ONS.

According to the Authority, for this month of January the predicted load values indicate growth rates of 12.9% in the Southeast/Mid-West subsystem, 4.4% in the South subsystem, 11% in the Northeast subsystem and 13.3% for the North subsystem. . 

The information appears in the PMO bulletin (Monthly Operations Program), referring to the operating week between December 30th and January 5th. See below the estimated load evolution for January.
