The Artists' Retreat, in Rio de Janeiro, will install a solar energy system donated by the company Renovigi Energia Solar, recommended by actor Bruno Gagliasso. Currently, the space serves 58 artists and has a cinema, theater, clinic, cafeteria and residences.

According to the company, the solar panels will guarantee savings on the electricity bill of approximately R$ 350 thousand per year for the institution, which has 15 thousand m² in Jacarepaguá, in the west zone of Rio. The installation of the panels will be carried out by SolarOn.

The retreat is an institution with more than a hundred years of existence that welcomes elderly artists who are experiencing financial and emotional difficulties, who are abandoned by their families or who simply have nowhere to live.

The space was founded on August 13, 1918, at the Trianon theater, by 68 professionals, who met for the first time to elect their board of directors, on August 19 of that same year. Paying homage to the actor João Caetano, the official founding date of the retreat became August 24, 1918.

Popularization

The installation of photovoltaic systems has become a recurring option in the lives of Brazilians for a long time and, with each passing year, more and more people invest in the sector with the aim of saving money and helping the environment. It is in this context that several famous people have also embraced the idea of generating their own energy through solar sources.

In addition to actor Bruno Gagliasso, other well-known figures among the general public have also installed the system in at least one of their properties, such as narrator Galvão Bueno, country singer Michel Teló and actresses Ísis Valverde and Aline Wirley.
