O government of Rio de Janeiro signed, this Tuesday (28), with White Martins, an MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) to enable the production of H2V (green hydrogen) in the state.

According to Pasta, the agreement provides for partnership work and coordination with government institutions, companies, development agencies, civil society and regulatory agencies, among others, to leverage the generation of the source in Rio de Janeiro's territory.

“Green hydrogen, which is sustainable 100%, is considered the fuel of the future and inserting it into the Rio de Janeiro matrix is strategic not only for its benefits to the environment, but also for the possibility of contributing to transforming the population’s quality of life through cost reduction”, stated governor Cláudio Castro.

According to Cássio Coelho, state secretary of Economic Development, Energy and International Relations, Rio de Janeiro has been creating support and incentive mechanisms to implement such projects.

“This is a source that is considered the next energy frontier and an alternative for the decarbonization of the economy in the state”, highlighted Coelho.

For Gilney Bastos, president of White Martins, the fact that Linde, the company's controlling shareholder, already masters technologies at all stages of the green hydrogen production chain, places White Martins in a strategic position for this type of venture.

“We have a team dedicated to business development in the area of green hydrogen working in an integrated manner with Linde's research and engineering centers. This is a strategic area for the company, which is ready to invest in H2V projects in Rio de Janeiro and throughout Brazil”, he emphasized.
