Rio Grande do Norte should receive R$ 1.9 billion in investments

O large northern river will receive new power transmission lines. To the structures are guaranteed for the auction what will occur in day March 28, at B3 headquarters, in Sao Paulo

O planned investment at auction for the State is estimated at R$1.9 billion. To the new lines will help to the current plants energy generators, in addition to expanding margins for connecting new ventures.

According to Hugo Fonseca, coordinator energy development of Sedec (State Secretariat for Economic Development), the prediction is that the projects begin operations in 2029, allowing the flow of the current installed power of 24.6 GW

To the new lines will be integrated into the YES (National Interconnected System), and has the goal in expand and strengthen The basic network of electrical energy of State.

The March auction will include 14 states. Rio Grande do Norte was included in lots 3 and 4 along with Ceará, Paraíba, Pernambuco and Alagoas. Among the planned projects is the 500 kV transmission line between Ceará-Mirim and João Pessoa (PB), 198 kilometers long.

“The four major works, in blocks 3 and 4, will guarantee the connection of new energy generation projects into the national electricity system”, highlighted the coordinator. 

Last year, Rio Grande do Norte had R$22.5 billion in investments in renewable energy. Solar energy contributed R$17.1 billion and wind contributed R$5.4 billion.

March 28th Broadcast Auction

O auction on March 28th, is the first of the year organized by ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency), and foresees the construction, operation and maintenance of 6,464 kilometers of transmission lines and 9,200 MVA in transformation capacity in Brazil. The estimated investment value is 18.2 billion.

The objective of the initiative is to increase the capacity to transform and transmit energy produced by new projects, mainly those from wind and solar sources. 

Many are in the construction phase or awaiting completion. “Adequate planning ensures that the sector continues to expand in Brazil, supporting the country’s economic development with clean and renewable energy”, commented the coordinator.
