A Heineken installed in the Olympic Park Rock in Rio Brazil 2022 one photovoltaic plant to fuel brand activations during the festival.

The initiative is part of the Green Your City sustainability and culture platform and integrates the company's green energy supply goal.

Developed by MOE (My Own Energy), the 111 kWp system consists of 206 solar panels – who are ensuring the operation of the bar close to the NDO Stage, the Beer Stations and the Zipline.

The plates are distributed in two points: the first is fixed and located on the roof of one of the arenas, and the second is a mobile installation, located on the floor of the velodrome.

After Rock in Rio, the mobile modules will be relocated and will remain together with the arena's fixed signs, forming the Heineken mini-plant, which will be delivered by the brand to the Olympic Park, as a legacy.

This generation, according to the company, will be used to complement the energy demand used on site, contributing to the community and reinforcing Heineken's commitment to greener cities.

Altogether, the use of the structure will contribute to the reduction in emission of around 300 tons of CO2 for 25 years, the average duration of the panels.

“It is with great pride that we were able to enable the production of renewable energy within the Olympic Park, continuing the journey of encouraging reflection on sustainability in cultural spaces, through our Green Your City platform”, commented Melina Domingos, sustainability strategy leader and culture of the Heineken brand in Brazil.

“For Heineken, being able to collaborate with greener festivals is very important. Our role is to act as a bridge and multiplier in the conversion to sustainable energy sources”, he highlighted.
