In 2023, Brazil had a increase in 41% power installed from GD (distributed generation), led by States of São Paulo, Minas Gerais and Paraná, according to ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency).

Still according to ANEEL, the increase in 2023 was 7.42 GW across the country from 623 thousand photovoltaic systems. This growth, however, was lower than in 2022, when installed power grew to around 8.3 GW.

According to the agency, São Paulo installed around 1.1 GW, while Minas Gerais and Paraná installed 860 and 627 MW respectively.

The expansion of GD generated credits to 119 thousand, 79 thousand and 57 thousand UCs (consumer units) in SP, MG and PR, respectively.

Rio Grande do Sul, which comes next, had more photovoltaic system installations compared to Minas Gerais and Paraná. However, the increase in power was around 600 MW, which means that the installations involved smaller systems.

At this moment, Brazil has 25.5 GW of DG power in more than two million systems. The consumption class that grew the most was residential with 3.55 GW installed in 2023, followed by commercial with 2.04 GW.
