Executive secretary Efrain Cruz is dismissed from MME

His replacement will be lawyer Artur Cerqueira Valério, now a former legal advisor to the ministry

After eight months in office, the executive secretary of MME (Ministry of Mines and Energy), Efrain Cruz, was dismissed, as published in the DOU (Official Gazette of the Union) this Thursday (11). Chair number two in the department will be headed by Artur Cerqueira Valério, now a former legal advisor to the ministry.

For now, Cruz continues as a government representative on the Board of Directors of Petrobrás and as president of the Board of Directors of EPE (Energy Research Company). The lawyer specializing in Energy Law was director of ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency) from August 2018 to August 2022.

Artur Cerqueira was a member of the AGU (Advocacia Geral da União) from January 2019 to January 2023. He also worked as a Legal Consultant for the Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovations and Communications (2016 to 2019) and the Ministry of Cities (March to June 2016). Since March 2023, he has assumed the position of Legal Consultant at MME.
