A Sedeme (State Secretariat for Economic Development, Mining and Energy) signed technical cooperation with ABSOLAR (Brazilian Association of Photovoltaic Solar Energy) at the beginning of this week.

The commitment, valid for two years, aims to enable the expansion of the solar energy value chain in Pará based on public policies, programs and incentives capable of making the use of photovoltaic systems more dynamic.

According to Sedeme, the initiative places the use of renewable energy in the energy matrix with an increasingly relevant role in the state's socioeconomic scenario. Furthermore, it contributes to sustainable development and helps to eliminate carbon dioxide emissions in Pará.

According to José Fernando Júnior, secretary of Sedeme, this agreement allows the benefit of the use of photovoltaic solar energy not only in homes, but also for the productive sector in Pará.

“Our work is continuous to seek ways to encourage the economic development of Pará with sustainability and job creation”, highlighted Júnior.

According to ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency), Pará is the state in the Northern Region with the highest installed solar energy capacity in the distributed generation segment, with around 286 MW and more than 24 thousand photovoltaic systems installed.

Furthermore, according to Absolar, the state has already received R$1.4 billion in investments in solar energy and created more than 8 thousand jobs.

For Rodrigo Sauaia, CEO of ABSOLAR, the agreement is a milestone for the entity and the State, and will allow joint work to diversify the energy matrix with sustainability. “This is a strategic step so that we can accelerate the development of photovoltaic solar energy in the State of Pará”, concluded Sauaia.
