Seven Brazilian states plus the Federal District (DF) already have photovoltaic systems in the DG (Distributed Generation) segment installed in all their municipalities.

This is what a survey of the Solar Channel, based on data from ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency) and the IBGE (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics).

In the North region, all 52 municipalities that make up the state of Rondônia already have at least one solar energy system installed on roofs, facades and small and medium-sized plots of land. In total, there are already around 6,600 photovoltaic kits in operation in the federative unit.

In the Northeast, the numbers are even better: 4,400 and 22,000 systems connected to the grid in Alagoas and Ceará, respectively. In the state of Alagoas, all 97 municipalities already generate solar energy, while in Ceará, this number is 184.

Going down the geographic map of the country, we find the Southeast region, where the solar source is present in 100% of the 78 cities in Espírito Santo. In Rio de Janeiro, the same also happens in the 92 municipalities of Rio de Janeiro. Together, the two locations have just over 48,300 systems installed.

In the South and Central-West regions, the states of Rio Grande do Sul, with 497 cities, and Mato Grosso and Mato Grosso do Sul, with 141 and 79, respectively, close the list of national federative units that, for now, they have solar DG systems in all their municipalities.

Solar in Brazil

Throughout Brazil, solar sources are already present in 5,406 of the 5,770 municipalities, which represents a little more than 97% of the total and a generation of more than 7.85 GW of installed power through 706.2 thousand systems in operation.

For Bruno Catta Preta, commercial director of Genyx, all this data reflects the strength that the photovoltaic source has in Brazil. “Solar energy is bringing development, savings to people, job opportunities and is becoming better known, more popular and more accessible every day,” he said.

The executive also celebrated the fact that soon other states will also reach the mark. “One of them will probably be Minas Gerais, which is a leader in the production of photovoltaic solar energy. It is a very large state, with 853 municipalities, but there are only 7 cities left to also join this list of Brazilian states that have at least one installation in 100% of their cities”, he pointed out.
