Solange Ribeiro assumes presidency of the ONS board of directors

The ONS (National Electric System Operator) held this Wednesday (10) the 11th Extraordinary Meeting of the Board of Directors.

On that occasion, the vice-president of Neoenergia, Solange Maria Pinto Ribeiro, was elected to occupy the presidency of the Operator's Board of Directors for the period 2023-2024.

She is the first woman to hold the main post on the ONS Council, which will soon celebrate 25 years of existence. For the vice-presidency, the chosen one was Ramon Sade Haddad, who is also vice-president at State Grid Brazil Holding.

The two executives were elected in a unanimous vote and have one-year terms of office and may be reappointed.

Solange Ribeiro, who until then was vice-president of the Operator's Board, is an electrical engineer from the Federal University of Pernambuco, has a master's degree from PUC-Rio and is one of the representatives of the Consumption category on the Operator's Board of Directors.

He is currently vice-president of Regulation, Institutional and Sustainability at Neoenergia and vice-chair of the United Nations Global Compact Council. Between 2012 and 2017, he was president of Neoenergia, a company he joined in 2004.

He is a member of the Board of Directors of several companies in the Neoenergia Group. He has in-depth knowledge of the electricity sector and has actively worked towards a more sustainable and inclusive agenda, which aims to accelerate climate ambition through the energy transition.

Ramon Sade Haddad is one of the representatives of the Transport category on the ONS Board of Directors. He is currently vice-president of State Grid Brazil Holding, where he has worked since 2011.

During his career, he worked for 17 years at Cemig and in various senior management positions at Electricity Transmission concessionaires, having become CEO of some.

At the same time, he is also CEO and member of the Board of Directors of 18 electricity transmission concessionaires. Graduated in electrical engineering from the Federal University of Minas Gerais, he has a postgraduate degree in Electrical Power Systems from PUC-MG and in Project Management with PMI methodology.

The ONS Board of Directors is made up of 34 advisors, members and alternates, nominated by the categories Production (10), Transport (8) and Consumption (10), in addition to two representatives from the MME (Ministry of Mines and Energy), two representatives nominated by the president of EPE (Energy Research Company) and two representatives of civil society, nominated by the ONS Board of Directors.
