Solax Power seeks regulation of hybrid inverters in Brazil

The manufacturer received the 2021 Red Dot Award for Design with the X-ESS G4 storage system
Solax Power busca a regulamentação de inversores híbridos no Brasil

The possibility of a regulation for hybrid photovoltaic inverters in Brazil It's not so far away anymore. With this in mind, the inverter manufacturer Solax Power is studying and monitoring the movement of the Brazilian photovoltaic market regarding regularization with the INMETRO (National Institute of Metrology, Quality and Technology).

“In Brazil there is still no specific legislation for hybrid inverters, for this reason we are also seeking to formalize this process with INMETRO so that, in the near future, battery storage systems can be common in homes, businesses and industries”, he stated. Luiz Felipe Kern Ribeiro, Commercial and Technical Supervisor at SolaX Power.

According to Ribeiro, when legislation is established for hybrid inverters in the country, SolaX Power will adapt its products and will have stock ready for delivery in Brazil. The company's latest international launch was the X-ESS G4, a single-phase energy storage system ranging from 3 kW to 7.5 kW, and three-phase energy storage systems ranging from 5 kW to 15 kW.

The storage system structure is composed of an X-hybrid G4 inverter, an X-Matebox and up to four pieces of Triple Power Battery 3.0. The system supports on-grid and off-grid operations with a maximum of 110% of AC output and 150% of oversized PV power.

Currently, the company has the following families of Solax Power inverters being sold in Brazil through some representatives: X1 MINI, X1 BOOST, X1 SMART, X3 PRO, X3 MAX, X3 MEGA and POCKET WIFI/LAN.

“We are certifying all of them through one of the laboratories authorized by INMETRO here in Brazil instead of carrying out the tests outside the country. This way, we will avoid misunderstandings in the interpretation of the laws in force in the national market”, explained Ribeiro.

The executive also commented that the company is investing in research into inverters aimed at large generating plants. “We already have projects to present more powerful inverters to the market soon with some ranges between 60 kW – 250 kW. In addition to our current fronts, we seek new commercial partnerships in the national market. The expansion of the brand in Brazil is a major focus of ours, we want to add even more to this sector that is on the rise”, he added.

Red Dot Design Award 2021

Solax recently received the 2021 Red Dot Award in the Product Design category, with the X-ESS G4, a residential energy storage system. O Red Dot Design Award is a German international design award given by Red Dot GmbH & Co. The competition is organized every year to evaluate and recognize the best products around the world.

According to the manufacturer, the simplified and elegant design of the equipment can minimize the time it takes to install the system. “Typically, installation requires two or three installers, taking an average of three hours to complete the installation of a hybrid system, however, it only takes one person to complete the installation of the X-ESS G4 in 30 minutes,” he said in note.

The equipment allows installation outdoors or on external platforms, as the system is classified with IP 65, being sealed against dust, sand, humidity and water.
