Sunways invests in the inverter market in Brazil

German manufacturer explores the potential and growing expansion of the country's photovoltaic sector

The sharp increase in the number of photovoltaic systems installed in homes, businesses, rural properties and other spaces across Brazil, along with a growing number of bilateral power purchase agreements (PPAs) for large-scale solar plants across Brazil, is boosting the solar sector in the country.

Today, there are already more than 9 GW of operational photovoltaic installations, according to data from ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency).

This scenario is promising for the solar sector, which last year recorded 4.9 GW in sales of photovoltaic inverters, according to a report from consultancy Greener. 

These numbers caught the attention of German manufacturer Sunways, which has significantly increased its investments in Brazil over the years and gradually deepened its market penetration and expanded the local service team.

“Brazil is the center of attention in 2021 for Sunways. Today, we offer a wide variety of high-quality products for all photovoltaic applications and environments, including residential, commercial and large-scale solar installations and energy storage,” says Carlos Trotta, Sales Manager Brazil and Latin America at Sunways.

Currently, Sunways' portfolio includes single-phase residential series (STS 1 ~ 10kW); the three-phase small commercial series (STT 4 ~ 25kW); the industrial and ground-mounted three-phase series (STT 50 ~ 136kW); and the residential and commercial series of energy storage (STH 3 ~ 12kW) and monitoring devices. 

Sunways has already received certificates from INMETRO for the 3kW, 5kW, 6kW, 8kW single-phase inverters and the 10kW three-phase inverter. Furthermore, all inverters were approved by IEC 62109, EMC 61000, IEC 61727 and 62116 and 61683 and 60068 which have already been launched on the Brazilian market.

According to the manufacturer, its equipment has several built-in protection mechanisms, such as protection against DC and AC surges, anti-islanding, short circuit, overvoltage, overcurrent and overtemperature protection, as well as reverse polarity protection with fault monitoring features. ground and network connections that further guarantee stable performance and safe operation.

Furthermore, Sunways highlights that its inverters are equipped with advanced MPPT algorithm with an MPPT efficiency of 99.9%, which can effectively reduce power loss caused by rapid weather changes and multi-peak shadows.

“Our inverters support more than 1.3 times the DC oversizing capacity and 1.1 times the continuous AC oversizing capacity.
