The electricity tariff for residential consumers in Rio Grande do Sul increased by 3.13%. For medium voltage customers, the average adjustment was 3.72%. In the case of high voltage, there was a negative variation of -3.99%.

The rates were approved on Tuesday (13) by the ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency) and they are valid for 3.1 million consumer units served by RGE Sul.

According to ANEEL, the factors that had the greatest impact on the calculation of the review were the costs of transportation and purchase of energy, inclusion of financial components determined in the current tariff process and removal of financial components established in the last tariff process.

The average effect of high voltage refers to classes A1, A2, A3 and A4. For low voltage, the average includes classes B1 (Residential and low-income residential subclass); B2 (Rural: subclasses, such as agriculture, rural electrification cooperative, rural industry, public rural irrigation service); B3 (Industrial, commercial, services and other activities, public authorities, public services and own consumption); and B4 (Public lighting).
