It's not news that Telsa invests in solar. The company has a products division, with panels and photovoltaic inverters, for sustainable energy development.
Now, according to CEO Elon Muk, the technology giant has ambitious plans.
During the company's fourth-quarter earnings call, held at the end of January, Musk stated that "it won't be long before Tesla is, by far, the market leader in solar energy."
“We are focused on reducing installation time and complexity, and we are making progress in this regard,” said the executive, adding that the company aims to achieve better integration between the Tesla Powerwall, Tesla Retrofit Solar and Tesla Roof.
Throughout the online event, the company announced that storage and photovoltaic energy deployments grew, respectively, by around 200% and 60%, compared to 2019.
“The year 2020 was the first year in which total battery deployments exceeded 3 GWh, for example,” Tesla pointed out. It attributed much of this growth to the popularity of its utility-scale storage product, Megapack.
